Privacy policy

InvoChef is a voice cooking assistant developed, owned and operated by Invoxity ("we", "us"). Invoxity is responsible for your data (the data controller). This page explains what InvoChef collects, why, who processes it, how long it is kept, and how you control it.

In short

No ads. We never sell your data, and we don't use your recipes, voice or messages to train AI models.
You can use InvoChef without an account. Your profile, history and cookbook live on your phone.
The microphone listens only while you've turned on hands-free in Cooking Mode. Audio is turned into text and never kept.
Nothing you create is public unless you choose to share it.
You can export or delete everything at any time, in the app.

1. What stays on your phone

Your profile (name, cooking skill, allergies and diets), Chef's voice settings, what Chef remembers about your taste ("likes it less spicy"), your cooking history with ratings, notes and dish photos, your cookbook and collections, favourites, and the cooking session in progress. They stay until you delete them. Timer alerts are scheduled on your phone; nothing is sent anywhere for them.

2. Talking to Chef and your voice

What is sent with each conversation: what you say or type, the recipe and where you are in it, and, so Chef can keep you safe and cook your way, your name, cooking skill, allergies, diets and what Chef remembers about your taste. It goes to the InvoChef server and to our AI provider to produce Chef's answer.
How long: the conversation is kept on our server for up to 3 hours, so Chef remembers what you said earlier, then deleted.
Your voice: in hands-free mode each thing you say is recorded briefly and sent once to be turned into text (speech-to-text by our AI provider). We don't keep the audio.
"Hey Chef" and interrupting: your phone's own speech recognizer listens for a few words (on the phone where supported, otherwise the phone's speech service from Google or Apple). Nothing reaches InvoChef until you say "Hey Chef" or an interrupt word.
Web questions (for example the weather) are looked up through our AI provider.
Simple commands (next, repeat, pause, timers) and answers from the recipe are handled on your phone and aren't sent anywhere.

3. Your account and sync

Without signing in, InvoChef gives your phone an anonymous account: no name, email or phone number. It is used only to count today's free questions, keep your conversations private to you, and own anything you share.
If you sign in (with your email and a one-time code), we store your email address and a copy of your settings, cooking history, ratings, notes, dish photos, cookbook and collections, so you get them back on a new phone. They are kept until you delete them or your account. We email you only for sign-in codes, the result of a recipe you submitted, and replies to reports you sent.

4. Your cookbook: importing, writing, dictating and photos

Importing from a link: our server downloads that web page to read the recipe, and the recipe text is sent to our AI provider to turn it into steps. We keep the link with your recipe, not the page.
Pasting or writing a recipe: the text is sent to our AI provider to structure it or to translate what you wrote into the other languages.
Telling Chef a recipe (Pro): your recording is turned into text by our AI provider and not kept.
A photo of a handwritten recipe: sent once to our AI provider to read the text; we don't keep the photo.
The resulting recipes stay on your phone (and in your account if you sign in).

Share by link: when you share a recipe, a copy of it and the name you chose are stored on our server, so anyone with the link can open it. Link previews (for example in WhatsApp) show the recipe's name. Stop sharing at any time: the link stops working and the copy is deleted. Copies other people already saved stay theirs.
Community recipes (signed in only): a recipe you send is stored with the name you chose, or "Anonymous", checked automatically and reviewed by a person at Invoxity. If approved, everyone using InvoChef can see and cook it, credited to that name. You can take it back at any time, and it leaves the catalog.
Ratings, "cooked" counts and reports on community recipes, and reports on public profiles, are stored with your anonymous or signed-in account id, so each person counts once. They are never shown with your name.
Cooking profile: your stats and achievements are worked out on your phone. A public profile is off unless you turn it on; then your chosen name, profile address, stats, achievements and published recipes are visible to anyone with its link, and nothing else. Turn it off at any time.

6. Crash reports, problem reports and usage counts

Crash reports: if the app crashes or hits an error, it sends the error, the screen, the app version, the phone's platform, your anonymous account id, and the app's last steps (screens opened, buttons pressed, voice events such as "nothing heard"). Never what you said or wrote.
Problem reports: when you use "Report a problem", shake the phone in Testing mode, or tap "Chef got it wrong", we receive what you write, the kind of phone or browser and its system version, the app version and language, the name you give as a tester, and, if you leave them switched on, a screenshot of the screen you were on and the app's last steps. "Chef got it wrong" also sends the last thing Chef heard and its answer, and the step. If you're signed in, we may reply by email.
Usage counts: anonymous daily totals, such as how many times cooking was started or finished, how often speech wasn't understood, or which screens were opened. They carry no account id and nothing you said or wrote. Turn them off in Settings → Your data & privacy.

7. Who processes your data

Who	What for
Invoxity	Runs the InvoChef server on its own infrastructure. A small team at Invoxity can see community submissions (to review them) and problem and crash reports (to fix them). We don't read your conversations with Chef.
Our AI provider	A specialist AI company that runs the language, speech and vision models: Chef's answers, speech-to-text, reading recipe photos, structuring and translating recipes. It processes each request on its cloud servers to produce the result.
Our email provider	Delivers sign-in codes and the few emails described above.
Cloudflare	Carries traffic between the app and our server, and protects it from attacks.
Google or Apple	Your phone's own speech recognizer for "Hey Chef" and interrupting, and its text-to-speech voices. These run under your phone's own settings.

We choose providers that process data only to deliver the service to us, and we'll tell you who they are if you ask. They may process data outside your country. Everything is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

9. Your choices and rights

See and export: Settings → Your data & privacy → Export my data.
Delete everything: Settings → Your data & privacy → Delete all my data, or Settings → Account & sync → Delete account. See how to delete your account.
Turn things off: usage counts (Settings → Your data & privacy), Testing mode (Settings), a public profile (Cooking profile), sharing a recipe (Stop sharing on the recipe).
Permissions (microphone, camera, photos, notifications) can be turned off at any time in your phone's settings; the app keeps working with fewer features. Shake-to-report uses the phone's motion sensor, which needs no permission, and only while Testing mode is on.
You can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it: email [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.

10. Children, security and changes

Children: InvoChef is a general-audience cooking app for ages 13 and up. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Cooking involves heat and knives; children should cook with an adult.
Security: there are no passwords to steal; sign-in uses one-time codes. Your phone holds a private token for its account, and the server accepts only encrypted connections.
Changes: if this policy changes, we update this page and the date below, and tell you in the app when the change matters.
